OKTOPAUS (“we”, “us”, or “our”) is a streaming subscription management tool available at oktopaus.app. We help you track your favorite shows and tell you when it’s safe to pause your subscriptions.

2. Information We Collect

We collect only what’s necessary to provide the service:

• Email address — authentication via Google OAuth or Magic Link.
• Region & language — selected during onboarding for relevant providers.
• Favorite & watched shows — for pause and return recommendations.
• Push subscription — browser endpoint stored if notifications enabled.
• Usage analytics — anonymized events via PostHog.
• Error data — anonymized crash reports via Sentry.

3. How We Use Your Data

• Authenticate you and maintain your session.
• Calculate your potential subscription savings.
• Send push notifications when tracked shows return.
• Send transactional emails via Resend.
• Analyze usage patterns and improve the product.
• Detect and fix errors.

We do not sell your data to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising.

4. Third-Party Services

• Supabase — database and authentication. Privacy policy.
• TMDB — show metadata and posters. No personal data shared. Privacy policy.
• PostHog — anonymized product analytics. Privacy policy.
• Resend — transactional email. Privacy policy.
• Sentry — anonymized error monitoring. Privacy policy.

5. Cookies & Local Storage

We use cookies solely for authentication session management via Supabase. No advertising or tracking cookies. Your preferences are stored in local storage on your device.

6. Data Retention

Your data is retained while your account is active. Deleting your account permanently removes all associated data — email, show preferences, push subscriptions — within 24 hours.

7. Your Rights (GDPR)

If you’re in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland:

• Access — request a copy of your personal data.
• Rectification — correct inaccurate data.
• Erasure — delete your account and all data via Account Settings.
• Portability — request data in a machine-readable format.
• Objection — object to analytics processing.

8. Push Notifications

Enabling push notifications stores a browser-generated subscription endpoint in our database. Revoke at any time in your browser settings or via Account Settings.

9. Children

OKTOPAUS is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

We may update this policy from time to time. Continued use constitutes acceptance.
